Turn on alerts

Your phone can buzz when someone reports a pallet or a line at a store you favourited. Here is what to tap, what each device needs first, and what to check if nothing arrives.

What you will get

  • A pallet or a line reported at a store you favourited. The report is what triggers it, so it arrives after someone files one, not when the pallet physically lands.
  • Only from a verified report, by a reporter an admin has marked trusted, and never for something you reported yourself.
  • At most one an hour per store. Nothing else is ever pushed.
  • Per device: turn it on from each phone or computer you want it on.

Choose your device.

iPhone and iPad

Needs iOS 16.4 or later, and NerdHunt on your Home Screen. A Safari tab cannot receive alerts. If you have not added it yet, do that first, then come back here inside the app.

  1. 1

Favourite the stores you want to hear about

Open a store and tap the star, or tap the star in the Stores list. No favourites, no alerts: there is nothing to tell you about.
  2. 2

Settings, then Phone notifications, then Turn on

Under You on a phone, in the sidebar on a computer.

  3. 3

Tap Allow if the browser asks

When it works, the switch reads “On for this device”. If no prompt appears, the browser may have blocked it quietly: tap the icon beside the address bar and allow Notifications, then tap Turn on again. If the switch shows an error, it says what to do.

Change the sound or style later in iPhone Settings

Settings, Notifications, NerdHunt. If you ever tapped Don’t Allow, this is also where to switch it back on.

If nothing arrives

Check the switch. Settings, Phone notifications should say On for this device, with no blocked message under it. It is per device, so a phone and a laptop each need it.

Check your favourites. Alerts are only for stores with a star. Open Stores and look for the gold stars.

Check the phone. Do Not Disturb, Focus and Sleep modes hold notifications back. Low Power Mode and battery savers can delay them.

Blocked once, blocked until you change it. If you ever tapped Block or Don’t Allow, the browser will not ask again. Allow it in the browser’s site settings, or on iPhone in Settings, Notifications, NerdHunt, then tap Turn on again. If the switch does not reappear, reload the page.

Delivery is the push service’s job, never a promise. Apple’s or Google’s service decides when it wakes the app; it is often quick and sometimes is not. We ask it to drop an alert it could not deliver within half an hour, so an old one should not turn up as if it were new.
