Terms of Service
This is the deal between you and NerdHunt. It is short on purpose. Using the app means you agree to it.
The app
NerdHunt, run by NerdHunt, a NerdVibes project, shows you what other members have seen at shops: product on shelves, lines forming, pallets landing, and what each shop has done before. It is in a private beta. Features change, sometimes weekly, and we may add, alter or remove any of them.
Your account
- You need an invite. One account per person, and it is yours alone; do not share it.
- Keep your email address current, because it is the only way into your account.
- You are responsible for what is filed from your account.
What we ask of you
The app is only as good as the reports in it. Members drive to shops because of what you file, so:
- Report what you actually saw, as best you can. Guesses are fine when the app asks for one; made-up sightings are not.
- Do not fake your location, use a modified client, automate reports or scrape the app.
- Do not file reports to send other people the wrong way.
- Be decent in notes and photos. No harassment, no personal details about other people, nothing you would not say in the aisle.
- Do not use the app to break a shop’s rules or the law.
We can hide or correct reports, remove points, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we will usually say why.
What you file
Reports, counts, notes and photos you submit are yours. By filing them you let us store them, show them to other members, and use them to work out patterns and improve the app, for as long as the app runs. Reports stay in the app after an account is closed, detached from you, because other members already relied on them.
Points
Verified reports earn points. Points are a thank-you for making the app better, not money: they have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and can be removed if the reports that earned them turn out to be wrong or fraudulent.
Points are also how we intend to keep the app free for the people who make it work. When a paid tier exists, crossing a points threshold will unlock it at no cost. We will publish the threshold and what it unlocks when the tier launches, and we may adjust them over time as the app changes; if we do, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
Paid features
Today everything is free. At some point there will be a paid tier. We have not decided what goes in it yet, and we will say clearly what is included, what it costs and how to cancel before anyone is charged. Reporting, and seeing what others reported, stays free.
What the app can and cannot promise
Everything in NerdHunt comes from people and from what shops have done before. A report can be wrong, stale, or true until the moment someone else buys the last one. The app says how sure it is and how old each report is; it does not guarantee that product will be there when you arrive. Drive at your own judgement.
The app is provided as is, during a beta, with no warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for a wasted trip, a missed drop, a purchase you made or did not make, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which during the beta is nothing.
Shops and brands
Shop names, product names and prices appear so you know what and where. NerdHunt is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any retailer, publisher or marketplace mentioned in it.
Ending things
You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we can pause or shut the app down; if we shut it down, we will give notice and you can ask for a copy of your own data first.
The legal part
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, and any dispute goes to the courts there. If a part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the app.
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so in the app and by email before it takes effect. Questions go to [contact email].
